Yoga isn't for everyone but have you tried every type of yoga? Probably not!
There are around 15 different styles of yoga flow and that’s not including all of the ‘next big thing’ yoga’s that people have invented recently – from dog yoga to gin yoga and even goat yoga.
There are some really weird types out there, I mean, I find naked yoga pretty questionable. Actually, it’s very questionable – I don’t think anybody needs to see a naked downward dog. Each to their own though, it’s 2019, you do you.
Luckily, I couldn’t find any naked yoga classes in Manchester but I did find some other pretty out of the box yoga classes for you to enjoy…
Sunday 9th June
Laughter yoga is medically proven to be good for you, it’s probably dead awkward but it promises to lower your stress levels and leave you feeling ready to bloody burst with happiness. Can’t knock it til you’ve tried it I suppose!
Rooftop Yoga and Breakfast at Pot Kettle Black
Sunday 16th June
Not that WEIRD but not that normal either… A morning of vinyasa flow on the rooftops of Pot Kettle Black with a freshly made brunch dish and a hot drink to take away or eat in after the class. Who knew Manchester even had any nice, calming rooftops eh?
Reggae Yoga & BBQ at Foodwell
Sunday 30th June
What? Jamaican me do yoga? Yep. Riddim meets Vinyasa with the positive vibrations of Reggae music in the outdoor area of Foodwell. After the flow, the area will be transformed into a BBQ hangout with plenty of vegan and veggie options like Plant Shashlik and Tempeh Grilled Halloumi and even a rum-based cocktail included! If rum can’t fix the pain of the stretch, you’ve not used enough rum.
Summer Solstice Morning Gloryville at Hatch
Wednesday 19th June
Yoga in the morning is pretty average. Clubbing yoga in the morning not so much. In honour of the Summer Solstice, someone thought it’d be brilliant to combine clubbing with yoga and additionally offer massages, healthy food and organic treats first thing in the morning.
Yoga at RCNQ

Aerial Yoga at Body Barre
Literally yoga in the air. Swing around in a silky ribbon and improve your strength and flexibility. The hammock is supposed to take the strain away from your body and allow you to stretch further. Sounds pretty painful but a lot of fun swinging around like Tarzan. Classes are in a 4-week block with the next starting on 3rd June.
Yoga & Wine Tasting @ Yoga Life
Saturday, 8 June
Wine is up there with my top 5 favourite things in life so this one has really caught my eye. The evening promises mindful yoga and mindful wine tasting. Align your body and pay attention to how you move and then on how to properly taste wine the best bit of the night.
Sundays 6pm – 7pm
Shake your asana every week to help you release tension from your body and mind with a light-hearted yoga flow and reggae music. Enjoy dynamic postures, restorative stretches and a much needed Sunday evening relaxation preparing you for the week ahead.
Kid’s Yoga @ Z-Arts
This probably isn’t that weird if you’ve got kids but I don’t so it’s going in the list of weird yoga because I can only imagine it is a disaster trying to lead this class. Anyway, it gives you 45 mins of quiet as the kids practise their downward dogs and breathing!
Summer Solstice Yoga & Breakfast @ The Ivy
Friday, 21st June
A 45-minute class led by Manchester Yogi Claudia Mirallegro on the backdrop of The Ivy’s leaf rooftop. The class is focused on movement, strength and spirit in a dynamic vinyasa-flow.
