Sunday 18th June sees Father’s Day roll on up once again, and as card manufacturers frantically print more designs featuring a bloke playing golf, or an F1 car, I’ve been having a look at what the various establishments have in store for Daddy on his special day.
Unless he is Walter White, you should take your dad to eat for FREE over at Menagerie this Father’s Day. Starting at Midday, all you need to do is book a table (highly recommended) and order your food. When the bill comes – daddy’s food won’t be on there so you can sit back and enjoy the music and ambience, while catching up and getting all the gossip from down the Bowling Club.
Menagerie, One New Bailey, New Bailey St, Salford M3 5JL

Unless he is Marvin Gay Snr, I reckon it would be a good idea to take your dad down to Dog Bowl on Father’s Day for a bit of Ten Pin action. If The Simpson’s is anything to go from – dads love bowling, and so Dog Bowl will give it to them for FREE on their special day. Make sure you book before though – it might get pretty busy.
Dog Bowl, Whitworth St W, Manchester M1 5WW

The Oast House
Unless he’s Vito Corleone, you should take your dad down to The Oast House on Saturday 17th; where they have arranged for a load of special activities to take place. To celebrate Father’s Day, and World Beer Day they’ve got a host of breweries coming down – allowing you and pops to sample some of the finest ales known to man. Kona will also be there – launching their new Hanalei IPA – and if it’s anything like Big Wave, it should be a good one! Oh and there’s live entertainment all day too!

Cane and Grain
Unless he’s Matilda’s dad, you should take him to Cane and Grain on Father’s Day so he can get some FREE Chicken Wings. Dad’s will receive their brilliant 666 Wings Deal – that’s 18 wings each with a different level of flavour – 6 Kansas wings, 6 Buffalo wings and 6 Hot as Fuck wings all mixed together I presume. You’ll get them for free and also get to see your dad cry as the hot wings blow his toupee off.

Red’s True BBQ
Unless he’s the dad out of The Shining, and a vegetarian, then you should take your dad to Red’s True BBQ this Father’s Day to try The Almighty Burger. Be sure to book in advance because numbers are limited, but if your dad thinks he can eat, then this thing is monstrous and will definitely give him a challenge. Developed in partnership with Bulleit bourbon, there’s three huge slices of a 28-day dry-aged rib eye steak sandwiched between a fresh-baked squishy ‘BEERger’ brioche bun, cured bacon & bourbon jam, Cheddar and Yorkshire Blue cheeses, fried onions and Red’s Dirty sauce.

Unless he is Phil Mitchell, you should grab your dad and head on over to the brilliant Tattu this Father’s Day because they’ve teamed up with whiskey maker Bruichladdich to put on an awesome afternoon for all. For £40 per person, you will receive a complimentary cocktail on arrival, two whisky tastings and a great 3 course meal from the restaurant’s eclectic selection of modern fusion Chinese dishes. Probably best to book soon, so Big Daddy doesn’t get disappointed.

Bakerie & Pie and Ale
Unless he is Joe Jackson, you can take your dad to either Bakerie or Pie and Ale on Father’s Day and he will be able to take advantage of some form of FREE Roast Dinner product. Go to Bakerie and he will get a proper lovely Sunday Roast, while a trip to Pie and Ale will allow him to get his chops around the brilliant Roast Dinner Pie.
Unless he is Lucius Malfoy, you should treat your dad to the Spa Satori Father’s Day Pamper Package – which includes a 30 minute Elemis Facial and a 30 minute massage for only £50. That’s a saving of £20, which you can then spend on yourself – maybe treat yourself to a big bag of Walkers Sensations and a 2 litre bottle of Tizer.

Unless he is Rasputin, you and your poppy should cruise on round to B.Eat Street on Father’s Day to get your Old Man a FREE Pint or Whiskey Cocktail at Junior Jackson’s Bar. It’s also worth noting that there will be the usual mix of music, cocktails and street food there as well as a very special addition – a free hot dog with every drink!

Unless he’s Ross out of Friends, get your dad and take a stroll down to brilliant Bavarian Bier Haus Albert Schloss where they will be putting on some special 12oz sirloin steaks (because MEN like MEAT), with peppercorn or bernaise sauce and a side of fries for £25. They’ll also be giving pops the opportunity to pull his own pint of lovely golden German lager.

Unless he’s Skeletor, it may be a good idea to head on over to The Lowry’s River Restaurant for a stunning Roast Dinner, because on Father’s Day dad’s eat for FREE (when booking for 4 or more people that is). For £22.50, you can have a massive 3 course meal, including a choice of Roast Beef, Pan fried supreme bass, roasted lamb rack or a veggie option of asparagus and leek tarts – add a starter and a dessert to this and that’s a big enough meal to fill even the largest beer bellied dads out there.

Unless he is Dr Evil, you should take your dad down to one of the Black Dog Ballroom’s for a lovely FREE Sunday Roast. As long as there is another person with them buying a meal at full price the Roast will be free – thank you very much. Unless he is Woody Allen, you can pick up a fantastic beer box from The Botanist as an excellent gift this Father’s Day. They can be bought behind the bar at any of the Botanist’s in Manchester and feature 3 brilliant beers. I’d personally prefer the ‘European Elders’ with Affligem, Delirium Tremens and Einstok White but I don’t have any kids so I’ll have to buy it myself.
