A 4-course Vegan Sandwich & Beer Pairing is Coming to the Northern Quarter

For one night only Beatnikz Republic NQ and new Vegan stop Alvarium have curated a special menu to celerbate World Vegan Day.

Few meals can beat a really, really good sandwich. There’s something about the humble, buttered thick slices of bread filled with everything you find delicious.

Really, the possibilities are limitless. You can put anything in a sandwich. Unusually though, it’s rather difficult to find ones that are actually vegan friendly. The most popular ones involve some sort of product that isn’t vegan friendly be that ham, cheese, tuna or mayo.

And we all know that mayo is unnecessarily put on every. damn. sandwich.

Well, luckily for those folks who love sandwiches and need a vegan alternative, Alvarium is at hand. Working alongside Beatnikz, they’re offering up a fantastic 4 Sandwich course paired with Beer event in the Northern Quarter.

The head chef, Adam Leavy has curated a special menu of 4 delicious vegan sandwiches inspired by a different corner of the globe.

Kicking off the night is the Hickory Smoked Heritage Carrot; served with a sweet red current braised cabbage and tangy pickled onion, washed down with Leather Soul Beer. As strong as it sounds, this full-flavoured bitter will have your lips puckered and leave you wanting more.

The second course sees a combo of King Oyster Chorizo with charred lettuce, chilli, a mint and peach yoghurt and a smoked garlic and avocado dip. The course is paired with a dry hopped, fruity wheat beer, Weizenart.

Up next is Riding East a juicy IPA paired with a Maple Smoked Shiitake sandwich. The chunky sandwich is stuffed with roasted pickled plum, caramelised cornichon cream cheese and a quinoa and beetroot caviar.

Finally, the last sandwich (sorry – all good things have to come to an end), ‘A Post-Hummus Critique‘ is made from blackened banana hummus, roasted cavolo nero, black cherry & sumac compote and finally a charred confit aubergine.

Naturally, this bright and vibrant dish is paired with Beatnikz’s most summery drink, Beach Bum. The American pale ale puts the taste of sunshine in a glass, giving you a happy and delightful drink.

The entire evening is also showcasing the best and hand-picked vegan metal and punk albums. Beatnikz have opened their arms to welcome everyone to bring any of their vinyls down for a spin too!
