Roast Beef Dinner
Dakota Hotel
It’s Christmas left, right and centre at the minute and I am definitely not complaining. Eating in the modern and chic Dakota Grill, everything automatically tastes a million better. Of course, that Yorkshire pudding was devoured and the whole thing was swimming in gravy. I’d like to take a minute to shout out the gravy actually – absolutely incredible. You need to go just to try the gravy. – Rikki Chan

Serrano ham, Manchego cheese, Roasted tomatoes
The Counter House
I was in The Counter House this week and I was pleasantly surprised by their range of ‘Toast Toppings’ – basically a big slab of sourdough with a range of toppings perched upon it. There’s the traditional ones (like Eggs Benedict) alongside some more ‘exotic’ ones like this Serrano Ham & Manchego Cheese number. I was also surprised with just how much cheese and ham I got – there was LOADS! Lovely stuff. – Jake Hardy

Cocktails
Junkyard Golf
This week I went down to my first Christmas party of the season, complete with caricaturists, cocktails, mini-golf and a lot of neon. I didn’t even bother to look at the menu, I knew exactly what drink I wanted – the one with the most sweets. Turns out the drink came hella sweet too, an absolute bubblegum explosion in your mouth that makes you feel dead young. Until the booze hits that is. – Ellie Edginton

Hasselback Potato
Edinburgh Castle
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know there’s been a new addition to Ancoats. And a bloody welcomed one at that. We took a visit this week to see the new menu and got to sample what has now been renamed as ‘The Best Potato in Manchester’. A heavy title for a side dish but completely justified. Potatoes are arguably the best vegetable (if that’s what they even are) because they are so varied. This dish is the perfect example of what a bit of imagination (and ingenious cooking) can do to a humble little starchy sphere. 10/10 would recommend and 10/10 would eat for the rest of my life. – Alex Watson

Christmas Dinner
The Bay Horse Tavern
I thought I’d be sick of Christmas Dinners by now, but here I am, another week down and another roast was eaten. And at none other than The Bay Horse. Piled high filled with everything you want and need on a Christmas Dinner including the addition of a Yorkshire Pudding. I will fight anyone who tells me that Yorkshire puds don’t belong on Christmas Dinners. They absolutely do. – India Morris

Cherry & Amaretto Jam
Selfridges
I would quite happily eat jam on anything. Toast, chips, a bowl of Frosties – it all works – especially when it’s this boozy sort from Selfridges. Its packed with Morello cherries (the best ones), warming spices and Amaretto. It’s beautiful and has graced my crumpets all week. – Ben Brown

Pigs in Blankets
BAB
We were down at BAB to take some pictures of their Festive Turkey Shawarma Kebab and no visit is complete without a plate of their delicious pigs in blankets. They’re charred on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside – and the best bit – they come resting on a bed of charred Brussels sprouts. Mega! – Ben Brown
