There’s a whole other world hidden away in the heart of the Northern Quarter that gives you the opportunity to fully immerse yourself into magical escape rooms, mind-bending mysteries and truly terrifying zombie runs.

Breakout Manchester expanded and opened up a new site last year, slap bang in the centre of the Northern Quarter. Now we all know this little slice of town is not lacking an abundance of eating and drinking spots, but the one thing there’s not tonnes of is forms of any other kind of fun.
Taking over the old Bikram Yoga site on Church Street, a whopping great big new space, meant that Breakout realised it was also the perfect spot for sister site Virtual Hideout to move in too.
Fast forward a few months later and they’ve got their matching bunk beds and screaming ‘there’s so much room for activities’.
And that they did. Late last year, Virtual Hideout swung open its very real doors to the Northern Quarter and trust me when I say it is the thing your night out is missing.
Whether you’re running from zombies or practising your parkour skills (sort of anyway), Virtual Hideout is one of the coolest experiences you can have when it comes to modern-day video gaming, transporting you to a variety of virtual worlds.
I have to say I’ve done this a few times now, lost my head and been absolutely terrified by zombies.
Breakout is the most popular immersive puzzle experience in Manchester which sees you and up to 4 of your mates locked in a room for 60 minutes. All you have to do is get out. Whether you fall out and never speak to anyone ever again is not Breakout’s fault.
Whether you’re into a popular wizarding franchise that Must Not Be Named or prefer creepy motels there’s a Breakout room for everyone to sink their teeth into.
The alternative spot to unleash your competitive side is perfect if you’re dabbling into Dry January and need other ways to spend time with friends or it equally makes for a great spot of pre-pint competition.
