From today (Friday 11th November 2016) until Sunday 8th January 2017, the iconic London Road is open to the public every day except Monday’s, after being transformed into a magical winter market complete with an ice skating rink.
The Winter Gathering is cocooned behind the frontage of the stunning old fire station and comes complete with street food stalls, bars and an arts and crafts market, with the courtyard illuminated by beautiful festoon lighting.
There are a number of bars and a mezzanine floor, which is available for private hire and features its own cocktail bar and stunning views over the entire site. The main custom-made bar has seating during the day and warmed by electric heaters, while by night it takes on an after-hours party vibe, as the tables are swept to one side to make room for a dance floor.
The street food vendors include; So Salad Crew, Wing It and Beastro who will provide high-end street food throughout the day and the permanent traders will be joined by a rotating roster of vendors including the Almost Famous Wondertruck each week.
Paying homage to the building’s history, organisers have acquired an original 1929 fire truck, which was commissioned at London Road and was in service in the station. Located just behind the decks, the truck will be a focal point for visitors during the day, with more child activity announcements expected next week.
