If you asked me to describe the art of sØlar, either using my mouth or in words on a page my answer would be the same; “Here, just look at this…”

Weird innit?! It’s also really, really cool, especially considering that sØlar is in fact a collage artist – creating all of his artwork non-digitally using just scissors’, scalpel and glue.

His work is often an eclectically strange blend of new and vintage imagery taking influence from all manner of places such as old sci-fi novels, mid century modernism, music and retro-futurism with a focus on creating surreal and bizarre art.

His artwork has featured on a number of record sleeves too, having worked with DJ Craze, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Fixate, Flevans, Tru Thoughts and Skint Records.

Not just this but his Instagram has also featured in the London Evening Standard as their number one art feed to follow on Instagram – impressive.

This Thursday 2nd May he begins a fortnight exhibition at Electrik in Chorlton, showcasing many of his unique pieces of work as well as selling prints of them to take home.

As well as the art, Thursday will also feature music by Kevin Swindells, beers and your chance to meet sØlar himself and ask him whatever questions you like.
