No Nonsense Theatre presents The Emperor’s New Clothes as part of The Manchester Weekender at Z-arts.

Continuing Z-arts’ ambition to be Manchester’s dedicated venue for children and families, on Sunday the 14th of October, the brilliant No Nonsense Theatre will perform their hit family friendly version of The Emperor’s New Clothes. No Nonsense will also be hosting an interactive workshop on Saturday the 13th.

The Manchester Weekender continues into the night as Z-arts proudly host the evening programme for Emergency, a day-long marathon of the bold, bizarre and beautiful on Saturday 13th.

The Manchester Weekender returns for its third year, offering a three day taster of the very best in the city’s culture. Z-arts is contributing an eclectic offering with a bit of something for everyone.

As part of our ambition to be Manchester’s dedicated venue for children and families, Z-arts is delighted to present No Nonsense Theatre’s unique take onThe Emperor’s New Clothes. Using comedy, shadow play and charming puppetry, this version of The Emperor’s New Clothes is the family theatre highlight of the weekend. The Emperor’s New Clothes starts at 13.30 on Sunday the 14th of October, is suitable for children aged 7-11 years and tickets are available from Z-arts.

As part of their role as Z-arts’ puppet company in residence, No Nonsense will be hosting a workshop for children from 10.30am-12.30pm on Saturday 13th of October, The Trunktastic Workshop will teach children how to make a simple elephant puppet of their own. Manchester Museum are coming in to bring history to life, helping them do this is their treasure box containing bones from the famous Maharaja elephant that once walked to Manchester from Scotland and lived in Belle Vue Zoo.

The workshop marks the beginning of No Nonsense’s development for The Elephant, a project inspired by Dorian Yates’ The Last Elephant & Chester Zoo’sAssam Haathi Project. No Nonsense return again this half term with Elephants in the Room!, a free workshop continuing Z-arts’ engagement and commitment to children’s theatre for the under 5’s.

Presented by Z-arts’ residents Word Of Warning, Emergency is a free collection of over 40 live works in a daytime of installations and interactions at BLANKSPACE and Castlefield Gallery. Z-arts is proud to host a full evening of 13 performances throughout the building on Saturday 13th October from 6pm.
