THE LIARS CLUB, Manchester’s first Tiki Dive Bar, opens the door to 50’s Hollywood style.
The Liars Club is the latest concept from Ross Mackenzie and Jobe Ferguson, owners of Black Dog Ballroom (MEN Citylife’s Bar of the Year 2010), who have teamed up with award winning Tiki expert Lyndon Higginson (Bacardi UK Tiki Champion 2010/11) to create a perfect slice of vintage LA Tiki style.

Situated on Back Bridge Street, on the site of Mackenzie’s previous venture The Purple Pussycat, the new venue is a treasure trove of Tiki heaven, with its kitsch Polynesian décor, exotic trinkets and flaming cocktails injecting a sense of fun into Manchester’s burgeoning business district

Lyndon, formerly of Keko Moku, was also winner of the 2009 Tiki Face Off competition at London’s Rum Fest.  He has infused his expert knowledge and passion for all things Tiki into every element of the bar from the design to the cocktail list.

The Liars Club will boast a creative and exotic list of sharing cocktails served in elaborate Tiki volcanoes, pineapples and coconut shells all expertly designed by Lyndon to be enjoyed in the lighthearted, relaxed Tiki hideaway with its chilled soundtrack incorporating reggae, afrobeat and all in between.

Serving the North West’s most extensive collection of rum, the venue will be the first in the city to offer merry-makers the chance to buy their own branded bottles of rum to mix how they see fit.   In true Caribbean Rum Shop style The Liars Club will be serving a minimum of 50 different rums, which will be available in quarts, halves and full bottles.

Bar manager Lyndon comments: “The creation of The Liars Club is the culmination of six years in the Tiki industry and is a real labour of love. I’m delighted that the bar has truly realised my vision and can’t wait to open its doors to the people of Manchester.”

Ross Mackenzie and Jobe Ferguson comment: “Creating the Manchester’s first Tiki dive bar with Lyndon has been a brilliant project which is really only just beginning. We’re excited to see it develop as it’s bringing a much needed slice of 50’s Hollywood fun for the growing business district of Manchester.

“The concept behind the name ‘The Liars Club’ comes from those little lies we tell ourselves, and our partners, when we say we’re just popping to our favourite bar for one drink but love the atmosphere and regulars so much we just can’t leave!”
