Manchester’s newly opened craft coffee and cocktail bar, Roc & Rye will be celebrating National Daiquiri Day (19th July) with a week of special events along with four remarkable reincarnations of Ernst Hemingway’s favourite tipple The Daiquiri.

With two scheduled events during the Daiquiri week including a Daiquiri Master Class and a Daiquiri Street Party, the opulent venue will be set for dance nights with live DJs, Daiquiri Fountains tasting of sunshine & beaches, and rum based cocktails.

The Daiquiri is a classic cocktail from humble beginnings created over a hundred years ago by an American mining engineer named Jennings Cox. Working in the Cuban coast village of Daiquiri and needing something to lubricate and motivate the workforce before a hard day during hot months. He used Cuba’s three great natural resources limes sugar and Bacardi to create what we know today as the Daiquiri.

As well as 4 new Daiquiri offerings this week, the Daiquiri Master Class will be held on Wednesday 19th July where cocktail lovers are invited to watch, taste and learn secrets rum based cocktails.

This guided rum tour is available from £40 per guest and includes four cocktails (Classic Daiquiri, Daw To The Dacha, Hemingway Daiquiri and Fresh Fraise Freeze), four shots of rum and light bites to compliment the experience.

Celebrations will continue with a Daiquiri Street Party on Thursday 20th from 6pm. Daiquiri Week at Roc & Rye will see wondrous flowing Daiquiri Fountains and live entertainments until late.
