Award-wining craft brewery, First Chop, are launching three brand new beers at the Independent Manchester Beer Convention at Victoria Baths from Thursday 9 October 2014.

With First Chop’s reputation as one of Greater Manchester’s leading brewers, this would be reason enough to buy tickets if the event wasn’t largely sold out already. However, following the convention their Caramel IPA, Figs & Syrup and Joe  will be available on draught and by the bottle nationwide.

figs

First Chop Figs & Syrup is the Salford brewery’s first ‘small beer’. Made in collaboration with the IMBC team, it’s a small brunette beer, single-hopped with Willamette and brewed with figs and molasses added to the boil. Coming in at 2.8 % ABV, this lower alcohol beer uses fruit is the brewing process, much like Extra Love Pale Mango Ale, which was launched earlier this month. The result balances rich and malty with the classic Willamette flavour and aroma to produce a flavour that belies it’s low alcohol content.

The second of the beers to be unveiled at the beer convention is First Chop Caramel IPA. Coming in a 5.2 % ABV it’s brewed with three classic US hops, 4 malts and a big dose of unrefined sugar to give a rich, caramel coloured and powerful IPA that we expect to be in great demand when it becomes available after IMBC in mid October.

joe

Finally, First Chop JOE is a cold-brewed coffee IPA made using natural process Ethiopian Dumerso coffee. This innovative beer is the first in a series of collaborations withManchester’s Passion Fruit coffee roasters, each will highlight a carefully chosen, single varietal coffee bean, it comes in at 4.7% ABV.
The brewery has recently launched a new ‘Super’ range, which are First Chop standards such as TEA and HOP, ‘dry hopped’ in the cask for additional – and occasionally bombastic – flavour. You will find these at bold beer houses across the country, including Port Street Beer House, The Beagle and The Font in Manchester.
