Kosmonaut is the latest addition to the Northern Quarter Bar Scene, and it’s certainly a good one.

Located on Tariff Street it’s a little off the beaten track, in relation to Thomas Street and Tib Street that is, and for me could prove to be Kosmonaut’s biggest asset. The veritable ‘door in a wall’ has a subtle presence and pretty much embodies my idea of a quality New York Speakeasy that’s known and used by the locals.

The bar is the collaboration of Craig Macdonald, Joe Fearnhead and Alex Johnson all of whom have a strong cocktail and food background with around 15 years experience of the business.

“We wanted to bring a piece of New York to the Northern Quarter but other than that we’re going to let the bar develop and finds its own path so there’s no set theme or concept really.”

With any new bar these days in the N.Q. there’s a certain level of expectation and Kosmonaut doesn’t disappoint, a quality selection of beers, a decent cocktail menu and plenty on offer with regards to it’s interior aesthetic, not least of which being 2 signature red leather barbers chairs.

One to watch I reckon, could be your next favourite bar.
