The Whisky Festival is coming back to Manchester

The Manchester Whisky Festival 2017 will be taking place on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd September. Taking place in the beautiful Great Hall in the iconic Manchester Town Hall, this two-day whisky extravaganza features a plethora of new additions and even more drams for your buck.

Run by world-renowned Whisky Evangelist Eddie Ludlow and his team, the two days include brand new workshops, plus the opportunity to try some especially rare and exclusive whiskies with the expanded ‘Under the Counter Drams’ selection.

Whether you’re a whisky novice, or know your Scotch from your Bourbon, this is the place to taste the best of homegrown whiskies, as well as an incredible selection of whiskies from all over the world.

September’s event will be the 9th annual iteration, which has grown in size, stature and creativity year on year, with over 1500 visitors enjoying last year’s event – making it the country’s biggest one day Whisky Festival.

Exhibitors include Talisker, Laphroaig, Highland Park, Kavalan, Aberlour, Springbank, Nikka, Elements of Islay, The Quiet Man and The Macallan.

Special features within the Festival this year include:

  • The Blending Lab –Visitors can create their own blend under the watchful eye of the Master Blender in residence!
  • Cocktail workshop – Visitors will be taught how to make classic whisky cocktails, as well as drink them of course!
  • Whisky Crèche – A welcoming, chilled out workshop area for ‘whisky newbies’. Run by Matt Chambers of ‘Whisky For Everyone’ – who also writes for The Huffington Post.
  • Whisky Lounge – a member’s area that will showcase some of Eddie’s favourite Drams.
  • Masterclasses – including Angel Share Glassmakers who will be doing live glass-blowing!
  • Whisky Fun Area – include Giant Jenga, Connect Four, Table Football, Whisky Bingo with ‘artist in residence’ Zoe Toolan.

There are three sessions over two days:
Friday 1st September from 6.00pm-10.00pm
Saturday 2nd September from 12 noon-4.00pm
Saturday 2nd September from 5.00pm-9.00pm
