What: Cord Bar is undoubtedly one of Manchesters Finest. When it’s refurbishment took place in 2009 I was apprehensive to say the least, I loved the Cord, I loved the booths and I loved the pies.

Happily the refurb has proven to further cement the presence of Cord Bar in the Northern Quarter and created space – seemingly out of no where, to really open it up. I must say however that I do miss the Cord, the thing tht for me was the very essence of the bar, replaced with cord-less chairs and booths it’s just not quite the same, but i guess that’s the point of a refurb.

Moving forward it’s a great place, the projector downstairs never ceases to impress me with the choice of film, Escape from LA being my personal favourite so far.

Get yourselves down to Cord, drink the beer, eat the pies, and be merry. If Cord is now only Cord in name it doesn’t seem to matter, the place is great and has the added bonus of being tucked away nicely, keeping out a large section of unwanted revelers.
