FREE Fizz and Beer this weekend at New 70’s inspired New York basement bar, Sugar Rays

Another week and another new bar is opening in the Northern Quarter – but I can’t see anyone ever complaining – the more the merrier I say, especially when they involve cocktails, funk and food.

Sugar Rays, located on Northern Quarter’s Newton Street (next to Cottonopolis) is a dynamic new venture, which hopes to transport you to 1960’s New York, with inspiration straight from the vaults of legendary US Disco basement clubs such as Studio 54 and The Loft.

Walk through the door and you’ll be met with an eclectic design with an impressive red tiled bar, a diverse cocktail menu, a wide selection of beers and the kind of Disco, Funk and Soul tunes that will keep you dancing all the way ’til 3am.

To add to this, the Rye selection will be one of Manchester’s most comprehensive, and if American beers are your thing – the selection at Sugar Rays puts many stateside bars to shame. A carefully curated cocktail list by local Alex Proudfoot and Pabsy promises to take you on a nostalgia trip.

In terms of the music, US disco culture is deeply rooted in the fibre of Sugar Rays. The thoughtful selection of music will be a nod to New York clubs such as The Loft and 12 West which produced a new sound that reverberated into a new millennium.

The final cherry on top is the food – a menu of weekly changing gourmet hotdogs as well as some lovely sweet waffles with all the trimmings. Laden with candyfloss, Haribo and peanut butter they will give Willy Wonka a run for his money.

Sugar Ray’s will be open every day of the week as follows…

Monday, 4pm – 1am
Tuesday, 4pm – 1am
Wednesday, 4pm – 1am
Thursday, 4pm – 1am
Friday, 12-3am
Saturday, 12pm – 3am
Sunday, 12pm – 1am

They are officially opening this week and to celebrate they will be giving away FREE DRINKS to the FIRST 100 PEOPLE through the doors from 7pm this Thursday and then each night throughout the rest of the weekend! (Thurs 15th – Sunday 18th June)
