The Secret Hideaway – Cane & Grain
The First Floor Bar at Cane & Grain is the perfect hideaway from the madding crowds, lovers can seek shelter in the dimly lit opulence among the wood panelling, leather seating and taxidermy squirrels. Perfect for meat lovers is the Mini-Meat Feast for two; three slabs of ribs (baby back, St Louis and beef short) plus three sides and a glass of champagne each. Couples can eat with their fingers, stare wistfully into each others’ eyes and try not to make meat/bone based innuendoes. £50 per couple, not one for veggies.
To book call 0161 839 7033 or email andrea@caneandgrain.co.uk.

The Definite Score – Dog Bowl
For those that don’t fancy sitting at a small table listening to others make goo-goo noises whist being over-charged for a piece of flaccid fish, they should head over to Dog Bowl, where they’re definitely going to score big this Valentine’s. A couple’s package of two courses, glass of prosecco and bowling is£25pp.

The First Daters – Friday Food Fight at The Great Northern
For couples who are just too early on in their relationship to go out for Valentine’s, but still want to do something together, they can skip the slushy overtones of Saturday 14th and take their date to a food rave at Friday Food Fight on Friday 13th. Back with better beats, a bigger bar and more street food traders, plus an epic food challenges ring, the night at the Great Northern has enough street cred to get noticed, enough people for it not to feel too intense and enough good times to make them lucky in love, no matter what the date is.
5.30-11pm, entry is free.

The F*%K Valentine’s – Liars Club
For the perfect anti-Valentines, couples can forget all that pink tack and paying over the odds to sit on an uncomfortable chair at a sticky table at The Liars Club. Single, together or somewhere in between, they can enjoy rum, fun and plenty of good times at Manchester’s favourite tiki paradise.
Open till 4am, free as always.
