Soup Kitchen invite you to ‘Be My Guest’

Now we all love Soup Kitchen. Its totally chilled and laid-back vibe is entirely infectious.

If I eat my lunch in there, I leave chilled. When me and my other good half enjoy romantic early evening fodder in there… we leave chilled. When we see gigs there or just go for drinks, it’s always a totally relaxing atmosphere, even when the party is in full swing.

But their chilled vibe just got even more so with the release of their forthcoming ‘Be My Guest’ list of Friday events. This friendly and intimate soiree covers both floors of the venue and puts on for your aural pleasure a heady blend of African, South American, Heavy Funk, Soul, Reggae, Disco, Cosmic Jazz, Rock, House & Techno Jams. Now, how delicious does that sound?

‘Be My Guest’ is as welcoming as its name suggests. It claims to be “a relaxed, unpretentious weekly” that already attracts a diverse crowd of party people who take the fun well into Saturday morning. A different DJ is invited to play each week and is often preceded by live acts and bands to create an appealing cross section of listeners for the night’s unusual and interesting musical content.

With an emphasis on brand new and upfront music, pretty much anything good goes down well. Everything from overlooked classics, cosmic and horizontal jams to deepest digs and music for dancers keeps the party going. One thing you can guarantee is originality. ‘Be My Guest’ may be relaxed but it keeps you far, far from bored!

Guests set to appear in September are:

14th September: Damo B (Bohemian Grove/Unity Radio)
