Ben Spier and Keith Patterson, both with decades of experience in the nightlife and hospitality industry, have announced they are taking over the former Cord site on Dorsey Street in The Northern Quarter.

The new bar, called NYQ, is set to launch at the end of April 2018 and will offer an original concept, contributing to the thriving bar scene in the area, and bringing back to life a small corner of the city steeped in cultural importance.

The ethos of this project is to create a destination bar that offers a relaxed atmosphere but comes alive below street level every weekend. With a nod to early 1980’s New York, NYQ is first and foremost, a laid-back cocktail lounge of distinct character.

The stripped-back basement where Manchester’s underground will have a space to relive NYC 80’s vibes with an exceptional team of resident DJs and the occasional carefully selected guest. A perfect balance of calmed creative ambition and infamous hedonism, all housed in one environment.

Spread over two floors, the upper level features an impressive bar that serves a decadent mix of cocktails exclusively curated by NYC’s master bartender Ben Scorah. The menu will also feature a bespoke selection of wines, spirits and beers.

NYQ is set to open its doors to the public this April, so watch this space for upcoming details. They are also recruiting for a number of positions, so head to their website for some more details.
