The trio behind some of Manchester’s most successful bar concepts have announced they are opening The Bay Horse Tavern (formerly The Bay Horse pub) located on Thomas Street.
Ross Mackenzie, Jobe Ferguson and Lyndon Higginson, who collectively own a groups of bars that include The Liars Club, Cane and Grain and Crazy Pedro’s are combining their wealth of experience within the hospitality arena to give this old-fashioned drinking hole a thoroughly modern makeover.
Ross Mackenzie said: “The Bay Horse has always been one of the city’s most-loved drinking dens and as a sign of respect for its Manchester heritage we thought we’d use it’s original and historic name as part of the new one. This is what this venture is all about, mixing the old with the new to create a unique offering that is unlike any of the other pubs in the area. We want The Bay Horse Tavern to still be known as a traditional-style pub, but one where you will get just as great a meal, as you will get a great pint.”
With the lease for this historic building now signed, refurbishment work will soon commence on the site with an opening date set for early Summer.
In the meantime, with a combined turnover of more than £7 million, the successful management trio behind the venture are working on an aggressive expansion plan which will see them roll out their range of unique bar concepts to cities such as Leeds and Liverpool with the aim of hitting £15 million turnover in 2018.
