Kaluki: Heidi Presents The Jackathon @ Sankeys
Sunday 1st May with Heidi, Steve Bug, Wolf and Lamb and Soul Clap

‘Bank Holiday Season’ is a phrase that instantly conjures beatific bedlam in club land. Any excuse of another day of partying leaves the hordes of weekend warriors clambering for an extra epithet, Sunday’s usual role in quietening down transformed into an extended excursion through the lunacy. And no one quite does the epic Sunday session better than Sankeys. Ladies and gentleman, we welcome you back to the Jackathon.

Their famed excursions over the years have included marathon sets from NY legend Danny Tenaglia and line-ups that seem more akin to the super-clubbing philosophy which club openings in Ibiza offer. As May rolls up to usher in the silly season, Sankeys continue to live up to their legacy with an offering so crammed full of talent it is one of the highlights of the electronic calendar already.

Bulging at the seams, the peerless ensemble is a smorgasbord of the hottest names within modern dance music. Heidi tops the bill, the DJ with a technical craft as tight as the ringlets that spout from her head and a musical know-how that very obviously stems from her ownership of one of the world’s finest vinyl emporiums, London’s roaring success, Phonica. She also has her own revered In New Music We Trust show on Radio 1. It’s Heidi inspired vision which has created the epic Jackathons – simply put, and enduring legacy to the finest raves.

Joining the house vixen will be German groove shaman Steve Bug. A regular fixture at Sankeys over the past seven years, Steve Bug has been one of the true impresarios of twenty first century house music, his Poker Flat at the epicentre of exciting electronica and master craftsmen

Innervisions head honcho Dixon is also in tow, bringing his mystic take on sun drenched house, soul battered disco and mood altering techno to Manchester’s best loved dancefloor. One of the true inspirations of our times, his ability to transcend genres and paint epic mosaics of sounds will gift the bank holiday hedonists a true education within music

Producers du jour Wolf + Lamb also star, going head to head with fellow duo Soul Clap for jaw-dropping 8-hour back to back session in Spektrum as part of their DJ Kicks tour. Their glee-ridden edits plunder R&B, Hip-hop, and 90s house flavours just as readily as they do more modern soundscapes, whilst their shows at the Macy Hotel in native NYC have become the stuff of legend. Oh and they can claim to have had a helping hand in nurturing talent like Nicolas Jaar, No Regular Play and Seth Troxler.

And don’t forget Soul Clap either. The Bostonian duo are sonic scientists who craft deep disco, crate-dug house and classics from the vaults, along with their own upfront edits and cuts. Mixing these two pairs together makes for four times the delectable deepness.

The local vibe isn’t undiminished either, with Sankeys throwing forward some of their own guns alongside a smattering of the finest djing talent Manchester can muster. Resident Ellesse and – Kaluki’s head man – leads the charge, with Pete Zorba, Treehouse, LaLoop and the Micron DJs are all bringing their own swagger to round off the vibes.
