The Freemasons Arms Knutsford

In late March 2013, owner of The Belle Epoque Matthew Mooney and his established team reinvigorated The Rose n Crown, relaunching the Knutsford pub as a Great British Chop House. Just over twelve months later, the same team responsible for the ever popular Chop House have announced they have taken over neighbouring public house – The Freemasons Arms.

A side note to this is that since my first visit to the Rose n Crown and subsequently been back every time I visit Knutsford and even took my folks, so if that’s anything to go by I’m really looking forward to the newly refreshed and refurbished Freemasons.

Though already under its new ownership, it’s yet to undergo its full refurbishment, which will take place at the end of June. The unveiling promises to offer Knutsford a venue like no other, bringing together an eclectic mix of bohemian décor with rustic charm, catering for the relaxed drinker or the quirky diner. The expansive outdoor space is sure to prove a hit during the summer months among both Knutsford residents and indeed those visiting the town for the numerous events that take place annually.

Until the end of June the pub will be serving food from 12.30pm until 8.30pm, and with no main course over £10.00, diners can enjoy quality local produce served as casual, hearty dishes, with the integrity very much in keeping with sister venue The Rose n Crown Chop House.

‘In addition to great food, we shall be offering a broad selection of cask ales, expanding the wine selection and introducing cocktails following our refurb’ exclaims proprietor and Director Matthew Mooney.

Matthew is however keen to stress the uniqueness of this pub. ‘We have enjoyed an incredible 14 months at The Rose n Crown Chop House, and it is the team there that have led us in to taking over the Freemasons and creating a sister pub. As it is practically a neighbour to us, and adjacent to our own car park, logistically it makes sense. As with The (Rose n Crown) Chop House, food will be sourced locally from our well established network of suppliers and farmers, but the way it will be presented and the surroundings in which you enjoy it, will be quite different. Whilst the pub will be under the same family as The (Rose n Crown) Chop House, it will be a very very individual pub in its own right – but always championing the true benefits of a great independent public house. We look forward to nurturing this new venue and creating a pub that both Knutsfordians and visitors to the town can truly enjoy and feel a part of’.

More new jobs have also been created in the town as a result of the takeover, and the team have once again utilised businesses in and around Knutsford from their wi-fi installers to their interior designers.
