Sure, it might have existed since the ’80s, but we made it a real thing and the only way to spend your Saturday or Sunday morning.
What’s more is we have somehow managed to add copious amounts of booze into the practice with the invention of the ‘bottomless brunch’. In case you’ve been living in a cave of some description, I am of course talking about drinking as much beer/prosecco/ bloody Mary’s within a certain time restraint alongside your breakfast.
Any excuse to drink, eh?
The only problem I find is that there is a lot of these bottomless brunches to choose from, and as time goes on I am looking for two things when it comes to picking where to go. First is some food which is a little bit different from your usual avo-on-toast and the second is a bloody good deal.
I am happy to tell you that Eat New York- The Bagel Shop covers both of these bases with their epic Bottomless Brunch deal which is available Friday-Sunday between 10 am and 3 pm for just £20.
It is safe to say that the menu is gorgeous and manages to hark back to what the Bagel Shop does best, which in case you don’t know is pastrami, salt-beef, house-cured lox and bagels.
You have a choice of gorgeous bagels like Top of the Rock (Pastrami, Swiss, Bacon, sausage patty, fried egg, hollandaise, brown sauce), The Sausage and Bean melt (Sausage patty, House smoked beans, grilled Swiss) and the vegan Corn Cake Avo Stack (Avocado, house corn cake, grilled tofu and marina served on Rye).
Not too dissimilar is the Bagel Benedict’s which are topped with pastrami or salmon smothered in a sumptuous hollandaise sauce and topped with a couple of runny poached eggs.
The same can be said for their all-day breakfast burger which is formed from a quarter pounder burger, sausage patty, bacon, fried egg, hash brown, burger cheese, chipotle mayo, ketchup – which is more or less everything that’s been associated with breakfast ever.
With one of these awesome brunch dishes, you will get UNLIMITED prosecco for 90 minutes which sounds like a challenge and a half to me. What more could you possibly want?
