Bundobust, the Indian Street Food emporium over in the corner of Piccadilly Gardens are well known for their fantastic veggie dishes and craft ales – so much in fact that anyone I know who has been has immediately wanted to go back as soon as possible.

There are quite a few potential reasons for this. One could be the Vada Pav, their Indian spicy potato burger which is a definitive must-have. Another could be their Okra Fries, which, had they been around, would have the potential to even replace sex as the addiction of choice for Michael Douglas in 1987.

As well as these two beauties (and also the Bhel Puri), for me it’s their ales – which are continually changing and are carefully selected to go perfectly with your spicy dishes. I had a mini revelation a couple of months ago when I tried their Nimbu Sour beer, the first time I’d had a sour beer in my life, and indeed the first time I even knew such a thing existed.

Well exist they do, and although a sour beer may seem like an odd concept, they go exceptionally well with the food at Bundobust, so well in fact that I refuse to eat anything in there unless I have a full pint of the stuff beside me.

Unfortunately the Nimbu Sour has now finished, but the staff at Bundobust have come up with something else to replace it. It’s called the Kachumber Sour, and is another collaboration with the Chorlton Brewing Company. As Alex in the video explains, the beer contains loads of cucumbers, as well as coriander and Himalayan sea salt (the best salt money can buy).

The Kachumber Sour is available from Friday 25th August – get down to Bundobust and give it a try before I drink it all.
