Yu Alderley Edge confirms return of ‘Odyssey of Taste’

The Odyssey of Taste is set to return to Yu Alderley Edge this October, with an incredible line-up set to join Victor Yu in the kitchen.

This premium gastronomic event will see a six night run, with a different chef cooking each night, creating a bespoke menu on each occasion.

With a focus on producing an exclusive event that celebrates quality food and wine, tickets for these highly-anticipated collaborations start from £65 per head and are on sale now. There will be no a la carte available over the course of these six nights. Here’s what to expect:

Tuesday 3rd October
Steve Smith
Chef Owner of the award-winning Freemasons at Wiswell, Steve Smith, kicks off proceedings, returning to Yu on Tuesday 3rd October. One of the best gastropubs in the country, Steve and his team have enjoyed recognition across the board, including the Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants, the Good Food Guide and the Top 50 Gastropubs to name but a few.

Wednesday 4th October
Young chefs from Yu – Krzysztof, Adam, Justin
Yu’s young team of chefs will take the reins and be given a chance to shine on Wednesday 4th October. The aim is for the young Yu chefs to move away from the normal Yu menu, creating new dishes for the event.

Thursday 5th October
Victor Yu & Yuk Ming Man
Victor Yu and Yuk Ming Man will provide a bespoke menu on Thursday 5th October moving away from the traditional Yu menu and creating brand new dishes and flavours for the evening.

Friday 6th October
Lisa Allen
The Michelin-starred Executive Head Chef at Northcote Manor, and winner of Great British Menu in 2010, will join Victor Yu in the kitchen on Friday 6th October. Renowned for creating dishes full of exact and harmonious flavours, Lisa’s passion for local produce and regional cooking led her to win such accolades as “Best Chef of The Year” at The Northern Hospitality Awards in 2008 and reaching the finals of “The Roux Scholarship” and “Young Chef Young Waiter” competitions. She returns to Yu following a sold out event at Odyssey of Taste last year.

Saturday 7th October
Nelly Robinson
Owner of nel. in Sydney, Nelly is set to return to the UK to provide a bespoke menu at Yu on Saturday 7th October. Hailing from Lancashire originally, Nelly apprenticed at Northcote Manor at the young age of 15, before moving to Stanley House in 2007. Nelly, at the tender age of 29 opened nel. and offers guests the finest international cuisines, with an innovative, contemporary flair. Well known for his role as nel. restaurant’s head chef and owner, Nelly is finding his feet as one of Sydney’s top chef personalities.

Sunday 8th October
Jeremy Pang
Coming from three generations of Chinese chefs, Jeremy established School of Wok in London in 2009, a mobile cookery school specialising in teaching Eastern cuisine to students in the comfort of their own homes. In May 2012 School of Wok opened its headquarters in Covent Garden.
Over the years Jeremy’s expertise in the Chinese food industry has continued to gain recognition with recent publicity and reviews in the Sunday Times, Delicious Magazine Online, BBC Good Food, ES Magazine and many more. Recently he has achieved finalist places at the British Cookery School Awards in two separate categories (Best Young Rising Start and Best Specialist Cookery School).

All three nights were a sell-out and the feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive so we were never in any doubt we would bring it back again this year.
