Turn up at Hawksmoor at any time of the year and you will find three burgers on their bar menu which are sure to please even the most ardent meat eater. On top of the Hawksmoor Burger (featuring some lovely bone-marrow-ness), and the Kimchi burger there is also the mythical ‘Third Burger’ a regularly changing concoction which allows their chefs to “fuel their burger obsessions”.
Most recently the Third Burger was the frankly brilliant sounding Five Pork Burger – consisting of a pork patty topped with pulled pork, sausage stuffing, bacon, cheese and mustard mayo. Fans of the movie Babe need not have bothered giving this one a try!
As of Monday 15th May, the Five Pork Burger will be out on it’s ear – replaced by the Umami Burger. Umami is the term coined for the recently recognised 5th taste (besides sweet, sour, bitter, and salt) and the burger will be a combination of beef, bone marrow, cheese, mushroom, anchovy butter and mustard – enough to get your mouth watering and wanting more.
As part of this auspicious occurrence, Hawksmoor have arranged an exclusive launch event for the burger – hosted by their very own Hawksmoor bartender and Manchester Sipsmith Ambassador Charlene Holt, who will pair the burger with two of our finest cocktails and finish off the evening with a private Sipsmith gin tasting.
