The much anticipated project from the hospitality and events team at the University with local company Eats Agency handling social & marketing opens its doors today.

The market will be akin to already popular market eateries such as Mackie Mayor and Altrincham Market with a central communal seating area surrounded by a selection of artisan food and drink outlets.

The initial line up includes:
Yard & Coop
Brewski
In The Dog Haus
Vnam
ManCoCo

Led by Liam Bergin, the team have been working hard to renovate a former eatery on campus to provide a year round food market of independent food producers.

But there’s no fancy launch planned, instead Bergin insists the launch will be about “honest food, served by passionate local producers offering our staff, students and visitors alike delicious, fresh food that’s good for the soul”.

Jake Ansbro of Eats Agency said “Working with the University on a first of its kind project like this is really exciting. Following a great reception after launching on our own community EatMCR, we know this new venture will not only enhance the student experience, it’s also a great opportunity for local food brands to connect with students”.

The new University of Manchester Food Market is now open.
