San Carlo bottega, the eagerly awaited new concept restaurant, cocktail and champagne bar from the multi-award-winning San Carlo Group, has opened it’s doors this week. The 100 seated chic dining venue and bar will be located on the second floor of Selfridges, Exchange Square, Manchester City Centre.

I went along to a taster session this week and I can tell you it was nothing short of fantastic, as you’d come to expect from Marcello and Aldo.

With a nod to the popular and critical success of the family owned group’s Cicchetti restaurants in Manchester and London, San Carlo bottega serves expertly crafted small plate dishes, this time, influenced by Italy and Southern France. A feature bar offers a select range of wines, champagnes and prosecco and a cocktail menu has been designed to suit all tastes. As with all San Carlo restaurants, attention to detail at San Carlo bottega is of utmost importance, all dishes are made on the premises using only the finest seasonal ingredients.

Commenting on bottega, Marcello Distefano, managing director of San Carlo Group said: “We’re understandably excited to be delivering exclusive new concepts for Selfridges. Cicchetti has been such a success story since launching in Manchester three years ago this November; we see San Carlo bottega as a natural progression and hope people will enjoy the exclusive setting and dining experience with what might be the best view in Manchester.”

bottega serves a light breakfast menu in the morning and an all-day-dining seasonal menu includes small plate original and classic seafood, meat, pasta, pizza and salad specialities with influences from across Italy and Southern France, drawing on culinary styles and ingredients which perfectly complement one another.

San Carlo bottega will be the third Manchester restaurant and bar from the independently owned San Carlo Group which owns and operates eleven leading UK restaurants including the hugely popular San Carlo and San Carlo Cicchetti on Manchester’s King Street West.

A fourth venue, Farmacia Del Dolci, a patisserie, ice cream parlour and café is set to open on the lower ground floor of Selfridges, Exchange Square in November. Serving an enticing menu which includes speciality brunches, freshly baked cakes, pastries and a range of its own luxury gelato; diners will be able to eat in or take their indulgences away.

Brian Hannon, Selfridges Food and Restaurants Director comments: “We wanted to create a vibrant destination with great food, service and atmosphere, which complements the local offer. San Carlo bottega and Farmacia Del Dolci will be two exclusive concepts to Selfridges Exchange, which we are sure our customers will enjoy. Selfridges Exchange is now not only a great destination for fashion, but will also be a fantastic destination for a great dining experience too”
