The team behind the multi-award winning Damson Restaurant brand, and the acclaimed Red Lion in Stockport, is set to expand with a second MediaCityUK site, scheduled to open in late October 2013.
Steve Pilling and Simon Stanley opened Damson in 2009 and quickly established an enviable reputation for delivering fine food, drink and service. The pair went on to open Damson MediaCityUK in February 2013, receiving an outstanding reception from customers and the media alike.
Now Steve and Simon have their sights set on providing a whole new offering for MediaCityUK with the site’s first pub operation. The Dock Yard will lead with the drinks offering, serving an excellent array of keg and cask ales, pales ales, beers and ciders, as well as a cracking wine list curated by wine expert Steve Pilling himself. Fine wine will be served in carafes at great prices, as well as by the bottle from their award-winning cellar.
Food will be typically high quality with Simon and Steve’s expertise adapted for the more rustic setting of their new pub operation. The menu will feature the likes of spit roast free range chicken, handmade pies and handmade burgers by Mark Stanley – the company’s full-time butcher. The site will be open for breakfast too, serving fresh juices and artisan breads in the morning.
The environment will be relaxed and informal, with a lively atmosphere providing a home from home for the workers, residents and visitors… all day long. The industrial style interior has been designed by Don Hobson, taking inspiration from the site’s heritage as a key trading site, with a fit out by stylish restaurant specialists Dawn Vale.
Steve Pilling commented:
“We’re delighted to be expanding here at MediaCityUK – it’s been a fantastic new home for us, and we look forward to bringing something completely different to the offer here”
Stephen Wild, managing director at MediaCityUK commented: “MediaCityUK is a rapidly evolving destination and it is great to have Steve and his team involved in our growth. Damson has built an excellent reputation amongst our community and those visiting from further afield and we are certain that his latest venture will prove to be a hit with those frequenting it”.
