For a night of sheer elegance and stimulating food and drink, the Lowry Hotel are offering a Gala Dinner on Friday 26th May as a chance to showcase some of the greatest select wines and champagne from 2016/17.
The evening will begin at 7pm for drinks and canapés, with a chance to taste Ruinart Blanc de Blanc (rich notes of brioche, french toast and roasted almonds). This will then be followed by dinner at 7:30pm in the private dining room consisting of 5 courses, each with it’s own selected wine or champagne which accentuates and enhances the flavours of each dish:
Baked Hand dived scallops, baby spring vegetables, chestnut, and vermouth sauce
Te Awa Left Field Albariño, Gisborne – little citrus flowers link arms with melon and peach to dance in the sunshine.
Marinated courgette, lobster mousse, pickled balsamic shallots, avocado, tomato berry
Chardonnay Grand Cru’ Terre Siciliane, Rapitalà – golden straw-yellow. Rich, harmonious, complex nose of pineapple, peach, pear, pastry cream and mild tobacco.
Cannon of spring Lamb, jersey royals, aubergine caviar, pea & nettle purée, and cumin jus
Scala Dei Garnatxa, Priorat – a fresh aroma of ripe red berries with underlying mineral hints, typical of wines from the region’s llicorella terroir.
Regional cheeses and artisan crackers
Alpasion Malbec, Mendoza – a lovely bouquet of dark cherry, black currant pastille and creamy new oak that lends the aromatics a seamless quality.
Apricot tart tarte tatin, bourbon ice cream
This event is strictly limited to 22 guests and costs £125 per person.
