Review: The Black Dog Ballroom Bottomless Brunch

Right now in 2018, Brunch is probably hotter than Beyonce. I can't help but think about what we did with our weekends before brunch? Eat toast, read books and talk to each other I expect... the horror!

The point is that Brunch is everywhere and aren’t we glad. The only issue I have is that I am a little bit tired of poached eggs on sourdough and sometimes on the weekend, I just want to gorge myself on as many calories as possible so I can go back to starving myself in the work-week. Go hard or go home I say.

Well, that is where Black Dog Ballroom comes in, and after hearing nothing but good things, I felt the need to pop down there last weekend to try it.

At the weekend they operate a cracking Bottomless Brunch deal which certainly helps make your weekend that little bit more rock and roll. For £25 per person you can choose a dish and get bottomless Prosecco, Mimosas, Wine, Lager, Soft Drinks or my weapon of choice – the Bloody Mary.

In the typical brunch dish department, they have a cracking Full English, a Breakfast Bun and a selection of Eggs’ Benedict with your choice of avocado, smoked salmon or smoked ham. No surprises there and all executed perfectly.

If eggs benny are your jam, then you are going to want to try the Bad Boy Benedict. This consists of a toasted breakfast muffin topped with rump steak, Nudja, tater tots all smothered in cheese sauce. You try and find me anything of the sort in Manchester- it is unique and I could eat it every day for the rest of my life if my heart would hold up.

I think the thing I like the most about the Black Dog brunch is that it is unapologetically American – so you can expect delicious Yank-y combinations of salt and sweet and all the carbs you could possibly dream of.

Like the Chicken & Bacon Waffle, for example, which combines a crispy fried chicken fillet with bacon aloft a flattened American waffle with a side of maple syrup to drown the dish in. Certainly one for the sweet-toothed people out there.

If you are a complete sugar junkie, you could always opt for the American Pancakes (which are stacked five inches high) or the French Toast Flip which is served with berries and whipped cream. Or, if you are a greedy pig like myself, just have one of these for dessert.

What’s more is that on the weekends, this brunch of epic proportions goes BOTTOMLESS. This is available Saturday & Sunday from 12 pm- 4 pm for £25 per person. Hell yes. Other than that, it is available daily until 4 pm.
