As part of the I Love MCR campaign, the Northern Quarter businesses are hosting a two-day free festival called N4 Loves U Festival on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th September 2011 from midday until 9pm each day.
Thousands of people are expected to head to Manchester’s Northern Quarter this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) as the historic district’s music stars, community and businesses come together to host a two day free festival  – N4 Loves U Festival.

Manchester favourites The Whip will headline Saturday with a special DJ set and the city’s own folk rock stars The Travelling Band have broken off from their tour to perform on Sunday alongside Northern Quarter’s own celeb DJ and owner of Teacup on Thomas Street, Mr Scruff.

Thirty acts including a host of DJ’s and bands including Kid British, Luke Unabomber, Cherry Ghost and The Paris Riots are set to entertain thousands of festival goers via an acoustic stage, an Indie stage and a DJ stage. A N4 Loves U market run by Manchester Food and Drink Festival in association with Afflecks will offer a range of concessions from food and drink to vintage clothing.

The event will centre around Thomas Street, Tib Street, Edge Street, Copperas Street, High Street and Oak Street, these streets will be closed to traffic and lined with picnic tables and benches.

Speaking as resident Northern Quarter traders gathered to unveil a Festival banner on the eve of the event, co- organiser of N4 Loves U Festival, Gary McClarnan from Sparkle Street Creative Adventures who co-owns Teacup on Thomas Street said:

“The range and quality of acts and people that have come together so quickly and given so much to make this weekend happen blows us away. This is going to be a fantastic weekend and let’s not forget what it’s all about – these streets are ours and we will enjoy them; we’d ask anyone who wants to feel united in celebrating our love for Manchester to join us here.”
