Old Granada Studios announces, the Weekender: the best in retail, design and food in the heart of the city.

Old Granada Studios has announced ‘the Weekender’ – a free weekend event bringing together the region’s most covetable designer-makers, independent brands and local food producers under one roof. From Saturday 20 to Sunday 21 June, the new two-day event, which has been curated to appeal to the city’s food-loving, conscientious and design-conscious consumers, will be situated at the heart of Old Granada Studios.

The Workshop – a characterful, repurposed industrial space that has been transformed into a creative playground – will play host to the debut installment of the Weekender.

In the newly restored space, visitors will discover the city’s first gallery-style concept store and bespoke bleachers from which the pop-up cinema will be a key focal point.

Families, foodies, collectors and weekend tourists are able to browse and order a carefully edited selection of accessories, fashion and homewares from noteworthy designers including Julia Roy Williams (WONDERHAUS), award-winning ceramicist Joe Hartley and Manchester boutique, Lissom and Muster. Acclaimed jewellery designer Jade Mellor– previously featured in Vogue -and brand new luxury online store Object Style will extend the luxury offering, culminating in a truly unique retail offering, seldom available offline.

In addition to the unique retail offering, visitors to the Weekender can expect casual dining in its finest from Manchester favourite, Mary-Ellen McTague alongside resident independent coffee aficionados Caffeine and Co. Bitter Twisted will be on hand with The Venezia a totally unique mobile cocktail bar experience in the form of a classically converted Citroen van, turned into a stylish 1920’s gin garden.

Live performances from local DJs including Will Tramp will take place throughout the day inside the Workshop, as well as multiple bar offerings from some of the region’s best known drinks providers.

The PLaYROOM will provide optional entertainment for children in the form of an arts and craft workshop, where busy parents can take time to enjoy a creative activity with their little ones.

Showcasing the finest independent designers in the North in one of the city’s most famed settings, the Weekender promises to be a truly unique event.
