Who Is Amanda Mair?
Signed to the acclaimed record label Labrador at 15 years of age Amanda Mair – now 18 Amanda Mair has followed in the footsteps of fellow Swedish vocalists such as Lykke Li, Ane Brun and Robyn by releasing an album brimming full with anthemic songs aimed firmly at the pop market but intelligently constructed and very well performed.
And what did you think of the show?
In the intimate confines of the Castle Hotel, Manchester her large production sound was stripped back to just her self and one of her regular band members joining her on percussion and alternating with her on keyboard duties. In no way does the strength of her songs suffer for this and her crystal clear vocals – which sometimes bear a little reminiscence to Kate Bush – do her songs full justice. Shy and strikingly pretty Amanda Mair is still finding her feet as a live performer but everything is there for her to build on what is already a very impressive collection of music performed with plenty of style.
