Low-key indie pop project of Greta Kline previously known as Ingrid Superstar is acoustically and visually mesmerising, giving an intimate introvert performances, an experience not to be missed.

False Advertising are curating an evening of one-off performances and a few Placebo covers, to help fund lifesaving surgery for Mandy Cooper Charity.

Holy Fuck | 11 August | Soup Kitchen
Toronto-based electronic collective Holy Fuck are showcasing their heavy rhythms in the soup kitchen basement. The way in which they perform live is truly unique, expect to see a number of instruments that you’ve never seen before, played like you’ll never see again.

 

Kashmere | 12 August | Gorilla
Local lads Kashmere are playing their biggest show in Manchester with Gorilla are pitching it as ‘Pure unadulterated indie’. The boys will be showcasing everything that’s right with northern indie rock. ‘If you could merge your favourite noughties Indie Rock bands, and splash in a modern Rock’n’Roll edge, you’d give birth to Kashmere.

Larkins | 18 August | Band On The Wall.
Following the band’s gig at Gorilla back in February the Glossop born four piece have built up quite a fan base. They are still of Manchester’s most one-to watch so if you missed them last time, get yourself to Band On The Wall on 18 August for night. ‘Scruff of the Neck presents’ not only Larkins but Indigo Velvet from Edinburgh are playing. Larkins also play gigs in London, Nottingham, Bristol and Cardiff. Tickets are only £8.80

The Shins 22 August Academy
With five albums to their name The Shins tour their latest addition ‘Heartworms’ the boys from Albuquerque bring their American indie rock band to our town. After a 5 year hiatus its good to see Mercer and the group back making music.

Frank Turner 24 August Ritz
Singer-songwriter Frank Turner comes to O2 Ritz Manchester with his distinctive brand of folk punk as the headline act for Street Noise – a night of music with a heart, held to raise funds for Big Issue North Trust and INSP (International Network of Street Papers). It’s a big one so it of course Sold out, keep your eye out for tickets.

 

The Lucid Dream 26 August Castle Hotel
Carlisle four-piece The Lucid Dream play a FREE entry Crowdfunder gig at the Castle Hotel. They Formed seven years ago in their native city, they’ve steadily honed their craft from 2010’s rough and ready debut Erbistock Mill EP through to 2013’s first long player, Songs of Lies and Deceit. Fusing layered, heavily effected guitar sounds with the futuristic punk.

 

Deap Vally & PINS | 30 August | Ruby Lounge
Deap Vally are an American rock duo, formed in Los Angeles, California in 2011. The group consists of Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards. They have released two albums, an EP and a number of singles. Both albums reached the UK album chart. Supporting them at their Ruby Lounge gig is Manchester’s very own all girl rock band PINS, these girls are on the up if you missed them at The White Hotel in April, get down to this to this gig.
