The best night in town this weekend sees a host of electronic aficionados descend on the city’s most famous dance haunt. It’s also completely free.

You can’t help but consider the irony in a party at the soon-to-be-closed-for-good Sankeys being called Continue. Needless to say, the event, at least in its current format, is set to do anything but once the next instalment is over.

If you ask us it’s a big shame, and this loss isn’t really going to be to the benefit of Manchester’s scene. Variety is the spice of life, meaning the more options we have the more chances there are of getting involved with some kind of merriment and messiness, somewhere.

Personal thoughts aside, the promoters have roped in an impressive roster of names for this particular night from the wildly varied and really rather good 50 Weapons imprint. The likes of Addison Groove, Cosmin TRG and Phon.o have all released on the label, along with the quartet assigned to take charge of our chosen bash.

Those faces are Dutch techno and bass don 2562- who’s always worth hearing, Shed- a rare example of someone who’s both en vogue and deserving thanks to exceptional deep but tough productions and shouldn’t be missed live, Ben Damage and Doc Daneeka- two of the more interesting faces on the circuit. If you haven’t, check out their excellent LP, They! Live, which arrived last January and managed to somehow mix everything from UK Funky to Detroit machine music.

Interested parties will also be delighted to know that the event in question- Continue at Sankeys on Saturday, April 20th- is also completely free of charge. All you need to do is email guestlist(at)sankeys.info with a name and you’ll be added, meaning nobody will make you pay door tax on arrival.
