Bay Area producer DJ Shadow (Josh Davis) was catapulted to prominence thanks to his landmark 1996 debut album, Endtroducing, acknowledged by Guinness World Records as the first LP created entirely from samples.
Since then, he has continually moved forward releasing innovative albums and collaborating with the likes of Thom Yorke, Massive Attack, Jason Newsted (Metallica), Mike D (Beastie Boys), Zack de la Rocha and others.
The Mountain Has Fallen Tour continues an exceptional couple of years for Shadow: in 2016 he unleashed innovate new album The Mountain Will Fall, which birthed his biggest single yet, Nobody Speak featuring Run The Jewels; a massive worldwide tour followed plus an EP featuring collaborations with Oscar-winning film composer Steven Price, rap maverick Danny Brown and hip-hop hero Nas.

“It’s been a long road since In Tune And On Time (my first live album, recorded in 2002), and the show has evolved in numerous profound ways.
“Back then, displaying visuals was an emerging and challenging concept, especially for a DJ on a budget. The projectors were dim and heavy, and HD was a distant pipe dream. CD turntables had just come out, but vinyl was still king…Serato and Ableton Live weren’t quite ready for prime time.
“Yet despite all of the technological advances, a successful DJ Shadow show has always come down to the same important concept: represent the music well. Give the program some motion, let things build. Play the “hits,” but also the sleepers people might have missed. Don’t dwell on the past, but don’t indulge exclusively in the new…represent all eras and styles equally. And, just as important, make the visuals more than just wallpaper…use them to enhance and amplify the emotional resonance of the music.
“These are always my goals, and to varying degrees, I’ve been proud of all of my shows. Nonetheless, it’s taken 16 years to release another live album; and if I’m honest with myself, I think it’s because I finally feel as though I got it right (or as close as I’m ever likely to get).”
