Manchester’s newest arts and performance space welcomes 20-year-old party crew and one of the UK’s finer turntable aficionados.

Considering how much buzz surrounds the cunningly titled Northern Quarter haunt 2022nq anyone would think it was closing for good imminently, not, as those in charge hope, in the year 2022. Specifics aside this weekend gives fans of old skool beats a chance to investigate what all the fuss is about, as an intimate party looks to span two decades of electronic music in order to entertain its crowd.

Originally hailing from Manchester, The Slammin Boys have taken their sound across the world and back. From Moscow to Dubai, Hamburg to Ibiza, hosting a Kiss 102 residency for nine years and appearing at some of the country’s finest clubs (Turnmills, Bambu, Beyond, Frodsham, and Ministry of Sound to name but four). As such their celebration of 20 years in the game, which sees them welcome none other than British legend CJ Mackintosh, should go off with something of a bang.

The event takes place in the aforementioned venue this Saturday, September 1st. Full details below, along with some rather amusing footage we found of the headliner in question describing how to scratch to a Yorkshire TV presenter, circa 1988. Apologies for the sound sync…
