If I had to choose one Elvis to go out and have a pint with it would definitely be the white rhinestone-clad jumpsuit-wearing version from one of his Vegas shows – taking him out for a few Strongbow’s to the Hare and Hounds would be one of the best things ever.
It was the perfect time – any earlier and he would have been a bit too concerned about his weight to down a pint and crunch on some Quavers, and any later he would have drank them too fast and started frying up some pork scratchings with some peanut butter and lard right there at the table. Vegas white jumpsuit Elvis for me any day.
And to be honest, that is probably one of the most enduring memories of the lad, the one that you see on TV or when people dress up as him and go and get leathered on Blackpool Prom. It’s also the look that Chris Connor has gone for on the picture above – the classic Elvis for a classic performance.
Having just been voted the ‘Best Elvis Performer Worldwide’ travelling to Memphis to pick up his award and performing in the West End; Chris Conner is coming to Manchester for a performance that hopefully everyone will be buzzing off – even if you’ve never really been into Elvis before.
‘The World Famous Elvis Show’ features Connor, with his 13 piece band; The Steels and backing vocals by ‘The Sweet Harmonies’ – recreating 2 huge concerts from the Elvis eras, authentically showing Elvis at his very best. It’s been said that Conner is remarkably very close to Elvis in both looks, voice and mannerisms and it’s truly a sight to be seen.
The 2 hour show, with live screening and video projection throughout, authentic lights and sound has one of the highest production values around, compared to any other Elvis tribute show to date. There’s also the chance to meet Chris himself afterwards with a free meet and greet after every show.
