Clinical hypnosis is useful for anyone who wants to make a change and live without some of the struggles that life can present us with. Whether it be to lose weight, stop smoking, improve confidence, or help with a relationship – Nowaiting is a hypnotherapy clinic based on King Street dedicated to helping people with such issues.

This is not like ‘stage hypnosis’ where someone gets you to bark like a dog or cluck like a chicken, it is all about getting results for issues that you are concerned about, and at the same time you remain in control. Nowaiting combine several different treatments together and they’ll get you into a hypnotic state of mind, which is simply a relaxed state of mind where you are more receptive to ideas that you (your subconscious) want.

The mind is made of 2 parts that control what a person is willing to do. 20% is the conscious which determines your choices, judgements, forms of analysis, awareness, and beliefs. The subconscious predominantly located in the brain stem is in charge of all involuntary actions, such as every emotion you feel – happiness, sadness, motivation, fear, procrastination, and feeling sleepy (just a few examples). It also controls every part of the body e.g. how slowly your toe nails grow, how fast your hair grows, how fast your heart beats. It has many purposes such as keeping a person alive and ensuring they are healthy and well. Most people say ‘that does not make sense’, it’s contradictory. However the subconscious does form habits very easily especially at a younger age e.g. smoking – a person may try smoking a cigarette which is a conscious choice. They may do this for several different reasons e.g. to join a group of people or even peer pressure from others. They make a conscious choice again to smoke, which makes them cough a 2nd time, but not as much as usual, making the subconscious a little confused as to why this person is smoking again. The 3rd time, they cough even less and 4th time they will likely stop coughing from smoking as the subconscious now trusts the conscious. It learns from it, just like tying shoe laces, you had to learn how to do it first.

Another example is alcohol addiction, using standard treatments, it can take months, even years for people to change such habits. With hypnosis, results are faster and can be long lasting.
