Well, I’m not a dad and I couldn’t be happier. Having just one day where your kids aren’t selfish little annoying gargoyles is nowhere near enough and not worth a free burger or a drink. You still might as well take advantage though so check this lot out…

Free Pint for Dad at Sandinista MCR
There’s always a fantastic range of beers over at Sandinista, whether its some super rare Spanish brew or a nice Summer fruit-based pint – there’s something for everyone. It’s great news that if you take your dad down there this Sunday then he can take advantage of a free pint, while you save yourself a couple of quid. Lovely stuff.

20% OFF Food at Sakana
Have yourself a bit of exotic sophistication this Sunday with Sakana and their range of sushi, sashimi and other Pan Asian delicacies. They’re being super nice too and offering 20% off the food bill on Father’s Day meaning you can either save yourself a bit of bunce or have 20% more food – I suppose that’s up to you and how greedy your dad is.

Dad Eats for FREE at The Bay Horse Tavern
Take you pops down to The Bay Horse Tavern on Sunday and not only will he probably love its ‘proper’ boozer charm but he can also eat for free. Make sure you book yourself in advance and that there’s more than just 1 of you and your dad can eat for free. I highly recommend the half chicken with mash and their lovely thick gravy – it’s divine.

Father’s Day Whisky Tasting at The Whiskey Jar
If your dad is Mike Baldwin or just enjoys supping whiskey in his slippers, you should probably get him down to The Whiskey Jar this Sunday for a brilliant Whiskey Tasting Event. For £25 you get to taste 4 different whiskeys, as well as get a Salted Caramel Old Fashioned on arrival. There’ll also be a competition where someone can win a proper full bottle of whiskey too so if you’re looking to get a bit tipsy and talk about barrels and malts – this is a no brainer.

Padre eats for free at La Bandera

La Bandera has some stunning tapas dishes- including the best Jamon Iberico I have EVER tasted and the famous squid ink croquetas. Dad will eat for free when you book at La Bandera quoting ‘PADRE’ when you do. Terms and conditions apply.

Special Meat Platter & FREE Drink at Tapeo & Wine
Owned by United legend Juan Mata’s dad, I wonder if he will be treating him to a special meal at Tapeo & Wine or whether that would be too much of a bus man’s holiday? Whatever they do it won’t stop you from heading down this week to take advantage of a super special meat platter complete with roasted peppers and mixed grilled vegetables. As if that wasn’t enough, any dads ordering a main course this week will also get a free pint or glass of house wine.

Big Buffet at Scene
It’s a matter of pride that once you have your first sprog and become a dad, you instantly attain a legendary status in the art of eating a curry. Before your child you were just sucking down a snide little korma but once that kid is out and you’re a daddy – you can slam down a lamb vindaloo like you’re eating Sugar Puffs. There’s no better place to enjoy a curry this Father’s Day then than at Scene who are putting on a massive buffet with over 30 dishes spanning the different regions of the Indian subcontinent.

Free Kula Negroni for Dad at Evelyn’s
At Evelyn’s Kitchen and Bar in the Northern Quarter (going to assume your Dad is very arty and/or trendy if you are going to take him here) they are doing their epic Sunday Roast dinners. What Dad doesn’t love one of those? Choose from mustard rubbed beef, lamb shoulder, harissa roasted chicken, market fish or their ever-changing veggie special with all the trimmings and arguably the best gravy in Manchester. What’s more is that Dad will receive a Kula Negroni on the house- see, I said he would have to be cool for this one.

FREE Bowling at Dog Bowl
As if getting food and bevvies all over the city on Sunday wasn’t enough, your dad can also bag himself a free game of bowling if you book in advance at Dog Bowl. How annoying – it’s not as if dad’s have every done anything to deserve it. All they do is wash the car on a sunny Sunday morning and fart on the sofa. Why can’t I get some free bowling?

FREE Bowling & Burger at All Star Lanes MCR
Dads are in for a treat this Father’s Day over at All Star Lanes – they can bag themselves a free game of bowling and a free Big Daddy burger when at least one of the family eats and bowls. The Burger looks pretty sexy with two 6oz chuck and rib cap patties, Monterey Jack cheese, lettuce and two rashers of treacle-cured bacon, topped with a fried duck egg and smoked tomato & mustard relish. Maybe eat it first so your dad is all slow and sluggy while bowling and you can beat him.

Reduced Rate Golfing at The Range
Those cards that you could buy in the post office in the early 90’s for your dad always had 3 things on them. One was a formula 1 car, the other was a pint of beer and the last one was a bloke playing golf – all of them artfully drawn using either coloured pencils or watercolours (or a combination of both). It’s therefore perfectly reasonable to expect your dad to be a fan of golf, and there’s no better place in the city to take him than the Range who will be offering their simulators at a reduced rate of £50 per hour on Father’s Day.

Half Price House Feasting Tray at Cane & Grain
As if your dad wouldn’t want to gorge himself on loads of BBQ’d meat like the barbarian that he is – it’s going to make sense to just take him to Cane & Grain and let him run riot like a dog with a bone. If you book in advance for Sunday then your dad can have a half price House Feastin’ Tray which consists of a Bacon Chop, 1 St Louis Rib, half a rack of baby back ribs, smoked sausage, house slaw, fries and pickles – for only £9!

In true Schloss style, they are doing things a bit differently this Father’s Day. They have teamed up with Barbershop Jersey Street Social Club and have transformed their study at the Bavarian Beer Haus into a pop-up barbershop where your dad can go and get his mop cut or his beard trimmed. There is no charge for this service and no appointment needed- just be sure to enjoy some booze and food while you are there, it really is too good to miss.

Special Father’s Day Menu at The White Hart Inn
It’s always lovely at the White Hart in Lydgate and it should be even nicer this Father’s Day because they are offering a slap up 3 course meal specially for the day in both their bar & dining room and brasserie. The choice is pretty special with starters ranging from pork shoulder paté, Lock Fyne smoked salmon and Jersey Royal potato soup and mains taking on the form of rump of beef with Yorkshire pudding and red wine sauce, leg of lamb or cod loin. For £27.50 you (and your dad) won’t be disappointed.

New Menu at Albatross & Arnold
With a brand new chef in the guise of Jonathan Green, a new menu and a ton of new cocktails, there’s no better time to head on down and give Albatross & Arnold a try. With their new menu they will be offering a choice of 2 course for £19 or 3 courses for £24 this Father’s Day which will be more than enough to fill up a big burly bloke. I highly recommend you go for the Cauliflower Jacket Potato – it’s very special indeed.

FREE Food for Daddy at Dogs N Dough
Get yourself and your dad down into Dogs N Dough this Sunday and good old pops can have one of their big juicy dogs or a nice cheesy pizza for free. When you’re booking you’ll need to quote ‘Who’s your daddy’ which is in no way embarrassing and it sounds like there will be some sort of Jeremy Kyle DNA tests knocking about if you need to prove you truly are the father to the child. Be worth it for a free hot dog though.

Elemis Pampering Package at Lowry Hotel
Not all men and dads are meat-eating, drink swilling savages – many of them enjoy the finer things in life such as rainbows, fluffy pillows and some relaxing pampering from a professional. This is where The Lowry comes in with a special offer for Dads where they can get the Elemis Luxury Travel Collection set for £45 which then comes with a complimentary voucher for a 30-minute treatment worth £50.
