Following the success of last year’s Puppet Masters exhibition Waterside Arts Centre in Sale, Greater Manchester is delighted to present a new exhibition, showcasing the work of acclaimed animation company Aardman. Puppet Masters Returns with Aardman Studios will focus on a range of Aardman titles and give visitors a fascinating behind-the-scenes insight into
the world of stop motion animation.

Coinciding with Aardman’s 40th anniversary the exhibition will feature puppets, props and production artwork from titles including, Wallace and Gromit, The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! and Timmy Time, and will tell the story of how each character is brought to the screen in an immersive and engaging experience for families and adults.

In connection with the exhibition, Creative Industries Trafford (CIT) are hosting a second Meet the Puppet Masters: Master Class Talks, following last year’s successful event. Featuring leading figures from the worlds of animation, puppetry and character design, this one day event welcomes Merlin Crossingham, Director and Creative Director for Wallace & Gromit at
Aardman, BAFTA-award winning director and animator Brian Cosgrove (co-founder Cosgrove Hall Films), BAFTA and Academy Award-nominated animator Barry Purves and prosthetics special effects artist Shaune Harrison. This event is delivered in partnership with Manchester Animation Festival.

Creative Industries Coordinator, Richard Evans says: ‘We are delighted to present our second animation exhibition, this time featuring acclaimed studio Aardman. The exhibition will have something for everyone – some of the best known animation characters for children and families will sit alongside the story of how the puppets come to the screen, providing inspirational content for audiences with an interest in stop-motion animation, character design, TV and film. We’re thrilled to have such a high profile line up for Meet The Puppet Masters and that this year, we’re working in partnership with Manchester Animation Festival’.
