Eat Out to Help Out
All week
The government’s ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme is fully in force and there are some cracking deals to be had. Fancy a £1.50 slice of pizza at Crazy Pedro’s? £10 Steak and Chips at Hawksmoor? 49p Cheeseburgers at Maccies?! You can even get a full 3-course meal for just a tenner over at TNQ – how bloody good is that?! So, get out and get spending some money – here’s a list of the places doing the scheme…

The Manchester Restaurants offering 50% off this August

Harvey Nichols Summer Sale (up to 60% off)
All week
Harvey Nichols opened their doors on Saturday and they’ve kicked everything off with a belting Summer Sale – where you can get yourself up to 60% OFF across fashion, shoes, accessories and beauty. I was in there on Saturday taking pics and I spied a fair few cheeky little bargains – although with how fat I am after lockdown – they probably won’t fit.

The Refuge Opens
Wednesday 5th August
One of the city’s most beloved venues are finally re-opening their doors this week – and we’re really rather excited. They’re opening up with two new menus – menus which concentrate on the idea of sharing, and you can get their huge (and tasty) Lamb Shoulder alongside a load of sides and small plates to share amongst your household or social bubble. They’ll also be starting their Roast Dinners again on Sunday – yippee!

Manchester Caribbean Carnival Online 2020
Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th August
With us all back on lockdown, and events pretty much banned for the foreseeable future, this weekend’s Caribbean Carnival is going to be held online, so you can safely celebrate at home without seeing your nan and catching the dreaded COVID. There’ll be two channels of vibrant dance displays, food demonstrations, community talks, and the island sounds of Soca, Reggae, Calypso and Steel Pan.

Vietnamese Lobster Sundays at Pho Cue
Sunday 9th August
Brand-new Vietnamese restaurant in China Town – Pho Cue – have started ‘Vietnamese Lobster Sundays’ where they get fresh British lobster delivered in the morning, it gets quality checked, marinated, coated and then deep-fried and added to a special Pho bowl. They’re limiting it to 20 bowls for the whole day so you’ve got to get yourself in there quick.
