The event also promises to be an immersive experience filled with colourful displays and hundreds of lanterns across the 2 day celebration perfect for families.
The ritual also known as Harvest Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated mainly in Chinese and Vietnamese communities. Moon worship has always been important in Chinese culture but the festival encourages families to spend time with each other.
A big tradition of the festival is eating mooncakes, a dense, sweet pastry that is baked or steamed and usually enjoyed with a brew.
At Manchester’s Moon Festival you can get involved in a Mooncake workshop and also try loads of other amazing Chinese food.
