Now for those of you who don’t know what Sour Beer is, it isn’t a double-bluff. It’s exactly what it says on the tin, a sour or tart beer. Technically, it’s also the oldest type of beer in history. But let’s be honest, that’s most likely going to be by accident back in those days.

Sour beer has become more and more trendy amongst beer enthusiasts and Beatnikz want to make sure everyone gets a try at sampling some. Known amongst fans as ‘funky’, Beatnikz are showcasing a varied selection of farmhouse beers from some of the finest purveyors of funk.

The 5 beers will be taking over the taps from noon on 20th September and once they’re gone they’re gone.

Yonder Brewing & Blending – Eldermother (4.2%)
A Belgian-style pale ale with elderflower.

Wild beer Co. / Alesong Brewing and Blending – Isle of Avalon (5.7%)
A hybrid sour beer made with cider apple pomace and aged in Oregon pinot noir barrels.

Rivington Brewing Co – Dark Stock Ale (7.7%)
Stock Ale with Brettanomyces (a form of yeast), wet-hopped with hops grown on the Rivington farm.

Wilderness Brewery – Farmhouse Sour Comet (5.5%)
Lightly sour farmhouse pale dry-hopped with Comet.

Rigg & Furrow – Parliament (7.8%)
Mixed fermentation stout aged in a single oak whisky barrel for 12 months with a blend of native Northumbrian wild yeast and bacteria cultured from sloes on the R&F farm, brewer’s yeast and Brettanomyces.
