Maurizio and his daughter Cecco will be hosting weekly Facebook Lives...
With millions of parents forced to look after millions of little kids during this third lockdown – times are tough. Working from home and home schooling kids sounds like an absolute nightmare, and that’s before anyone even mentions entertaining the little sods when they’re not ‘at school’.
Well, the team from Salvi’s are stepping up to the plate this week, as owner Maurizio Cecco and his culinarily talented 12-year-old daughter Sienna have decided to help as only they can.
The family duo will be heading back to Facebook, as they have during every lockdown so far, on a weekly basis and delivering live cooking tutorial vids for the kids, taking in authentic Italian dishes and some Salvi’s favourites such as pasta con baccalà e noci and a special rainbow pasta created by Sienna.
Cooking has become a huge part of lockdown life for families across the country and the pandemic has seen a generation of “little chefs” emerge as parents and their kids spend more time than ever together in the kitchen learning new skills.
All of the dishes will be fun, super simple and full of easy-to-find ingredients that can be purchased from Salvi’s Deli in Manchester’s Corn Exchange which is open for essential purchases.
The Ceccos have cooked as a family for generations and many of the incredible dishes that you see on the Salvi’s menu today have been passed down from Maurizio’s mum and Sienna’s Nonna, Nonna Teresa Cecco.
All of the videos will be made with parents in mind and will be left up on the Salvi’s Facebook page so that they can be used as an activity to do with the kids whenever they may need it during lockdown and beyond.
Salvi’s owner Maurizio Cecco says “As we always say, the Salvi’s customers are our family and in these tough times they know that we are here to help.
“We know how hard everyone is working to get through this lockdown and with home schooling to think about, we just want to give all the parents out there the option of being able to take part in a cooking tutorial with their kids.
“The tutorials will be live but will be available on our Facebook page at any time so that people can fit them around their schedules and if anyone is unsure about any ingredients, they can call our Deli which is still open!”
