Superbia is Manchester Pride’s year-round programme of arts and culture, designed to support, curate, fund and promote LGBTQ+ events throughout Greater Manchester. As one of the UK’s leading LGBTQ+ charities, it campaigns for LGBTQ+ equality, celebrates LGBTQ+ life and creates opportunities that engage LGBTQ+ people in Greater Manchester so that they can thrive.

Superbia supports LGBTQ+ artists by promoting events through its events page and social media, funds LGBTQ+ events with Superbia Grants and by curating original events through collaboration with partners, venues, groups, curators, community members, artists and creatives.

Superbia and Manchester Pride have proudly supported Trans Vegas since its beginnings and with generous support from Arts Council England we have been able to contribute to seeking talent for future festivals via the forthcoming ‘Make Trans Work’ project, in which Trans Creative will help new trans artists develop their work for the stage.

Trans Creative is Manchester’s very own transgender arts company, led by Artistic Director Kate O’Donnell. Its annual Trans Vegas Arts Festival is renowned for bringing diverse trans talent to the fore in venues across Manchester.

This year they’re not letting a pandemic slow them down – Trans Vegas 2020 will be an online bonanza featuring art, dance, podcast, film screenings, conversation, a digital rally and more.

Speaking ahead of the festival this weekend, Kate said: “One global pandemic, 35 trans artists and 120 Zoom calls later, we bring you #TransVegas2020, our first online trans arts festival. Connecting with these brilliant trans creatives during this difficult time has been very special and I am so proud to share what we have created.”

Running from the 19–21 June, the festival will profile trans talent from the North West and internationally, including the iconic Justin Vivian Bond.

InterGENDERational conversations will pair trans people from different eras to discuss their lives, while the digital rally on June 20th will honour Black trans people in a Black Lives Matter-themed event.
