The government's new scheme comes into effect on Monday 3rd August.
The ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme is the government’s way of helping businesses get back up on their feet and get people out spending money in the economy after the COVID-19 lockdown fiasco.
The rules of the scheme are:
– Get 50% off your food and non-alcoholic drinks up to a total value of £10 per person if you eat or drink in
– Every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 3 August and 31 August
– As many times as you like.
There’s a little bit of confusion flying around, perfectly summed up by this fella I found on a Facebook page:
Can someone explain to me how this eat out to help out works? It’s not 50% off the bill is it? Is it 50% of £10? So if I ate out by myself in a restaurant and bill was £38. How much am I anticipated to pay? Thanks
So, if this fella spends £38 on food and non-alcoholic drinks then the restaurant will take 50% off the total bill up to £10 per person. So on his own he’ll be paying £28. If he took his mate then they’ll pay £18. Get it?
So here are the establishments who will be taking part…
