Ancoats’ very own Michelin-starred restaurant will be throwing their doors open this Saturday 4th July. Simon Martin and his team must have been missing being in the kitchen while on lockdown because they’re hitting the ground running and diving straight in with their hugely impressive £140 per head Dinner menu. It features such dishes as ‘beef tartare that tastes like beef‘, ‘ vegetables marinated in a paste made from wood ants‘ and of course ‘roast chicken chawanmushi and crackling‘.

Moor Hall, Aughton

Headed up by Chef Patron Mark Birchall, Moor Hall has obtained two Michelin stars, five AA Rosettes and was recently crowned ‘Restaurant of the Year’ at the National Restaurant Awards. Pretty good going. The talented team there have created a delicate produce-driven menu inspired by the local area and home grown ingredients. The tasting menu is also famous for its on-site cheese room which is curated to house the best and most delicious of the local cheeses in the area.

L’Enclume, Cartmel

Simon Rogan (ex chef-patron at The French here in Manchester) heads up one of the UK’s most iconic and famous Michelin-starred restaurants. The menu is famed for Rogan’s farm-to-plate philosophy, and is packed with creativity, passion and truly sublime hand-picked ingredients. L’Enclume certainly deserves its two stars.

Rogan & Co, Cartmel
Bookings available from Tuesday 7th July

Rogan & Co is L’Enclume’s more relaxed sister restaurant located in the centre of the village. They’re offering a midweek set lunch menu and á la carte menu, both with new summer dishes. Every Sunday from mid July and throughout August, their Executive Chef Tom Barnes will be serving his Great British Menu dishes.

The White Swan at Fence, Burnley

Burnley has had a lot of bad press over the past couple of weeks, but don’t let all of that put you off. The Lancashire town is full of some truly wonderful, beautiful people, as well as The White Swan at Fence – a lively local pub with a Michelin-starred menu by Chef Tom Parker. The small menu is constantly changing depending on what’s fresh, and it’ll always use the highest quality local produce to “deliver clean, accurate flavours to the plate.”

Tucked away in the Ribble Valley for its elegance and sophistication and its Northern spin on fine dining. The team led by executive chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen have created a series of fine dining menus with “dishes full of exact and harmonious flavours.” They take pride in offering “fine dining with professional but true Northern hospitality.”

John’s House, Leicestershire

Housed on a 4,000 acre family farm where John himself was born. He cooks there and all the family are involved. It doesn’t get more ‘farm to fork’ than here, with the surrounding fields supplying most of the ingredients you’ll find on your plate.
