I know she can drive you up the wall, but you have a lot to thank your mum for including ruining her body, buying you stuff and generally putting up with your shit for twenty-something years.

This Mother’s Day you can treat your mum to a beautiful bouquet from Manchester’s much-loved florist FROG who will be in Selfridges Trafford from 25th – 31st March and Selfridges Exchange from 28th – 31st March creating handmade arrangements. On Saturday 30th, you can get tickets to an exclusive floristry workshop at the Trafford centre where parents can create their own bouquets whilst children make a flower crown before posing for a picture in the photo booth!

The Counter House is Ancoats’ latest neighbourhood dining venue on Cutting Room Square – and boy, is it lovely. The Lowry Hotel have combined two of my favourite things this Mother’s Day by taking their famous afternoon tea and doing it buffet style. Take your pick from a delicious selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones (with cream and jam, naturally) and one of the beautiful loose leaf teas by Tea from the Manor. Mum will love it and you will too.

Name a Cocktail after your mum at Albert’s Didsbury
Albert’s Didsbury has launched a competition for one customer to have a cocktail named in honour of their Mum. Whether it be a Brenda, Bella or even Mrs Brown – a fabulous Didsbury Gin cocktail will be named in honour of a local Mum. The winner will be invited to toast the big day with her cocktail on Mothering Sunday. Pier Eight at The Lowry is one of Salford’s best-kept secrets and one of my favourite places to eat ever. The food is fantastic and full of surprises. The restaurant is all about sustainability too with their very own garden on the roof of The Lowry which grows a variety of herbs, fruits, veg and spices. You’ll love it, and if you book in for Mother’s Day you’ll get a free glass of fizz too!

Three Course Roast and a Bottle of Fizz at The Chorlton Green
If you are a Chorlton native and want to stay out of the hustle and bustle of the city centre this Mother’s Day then The Chorlton Green is the place for you. If you haven’t been, it is a trendy wine bar with food by Eat New York and on the 31st they are offering a £25 three-course roast dinner with a complimentary bottle of fizz thrown in for good measure. The roast dinner at Brasserie Abode is the stuff of legend, and this Mother’s Day they are proper sorting you out by offering it with a starter and a main for just £25 per person which is a bargain if I’ve ever seen one! Choose from succulent roast beef or shoulder of lamb with all the trimmings or roasted cod or the pumpkin tortellini for vegetarians with delicious starters and desserts either side. Pair this with a bit of live music and the beautiful environment of Brasserie Abode and you have the perfect Mother’s Day celebration right there.
