A new initiative has come together to raise money for cancer research in Manchester. Business Beats Cancer Manchester is a new charity which, on behalf of Cancer Research UK, raises funds for targeted cancer treatments, benefitting residents here in Manchester.
And to celebrate their launch they’ve recruited Mancunian writer and performer David Scott – aka Argh Kid – to pen and perform a poem about the fight against cancer, ending with the poignant line: “We stand together, together we fight”.
Argh Kid will perform the poem in full at Business Beats Cancer Manchester’s launch event, a gala dinner at Manchester Cathedral on Thursday 27. The charity is also calling out to influential figures across Manchester to lend their support to this important cause and inviting individuals to join the board to help amplify its mission.

Business Beats Cancer chair, Jon Butler, said, “This is an amazing platform that brings the Manchester business community together to raise money for cancer research projects that really can make a difference both in Manchester and around the globe. Since our business community is so active and influential, we’re looking for businesses to join us in supporting our chosen research projects by helping us raise funds across the year.”
